What inspired McCarthy Consulting LLC? I enjoy helping clients succeed in a complicated and changing federal policy environment and it is rewarding to put my government experience in trade, manufacturing, Buy American, appropriations, clean energy, and solving unique legislative and regulatory challenges to work helping businesses succeed. As a consulting business, I pride myself on my unique mix of policy, strategic thinking, and political knowledge of multiple issues--including trade and tariffs--along with deep connections to trade officials and Capitol Hill staff. My approach is rooted in hard work and being results-driven, honest, and a creative problem solver, ensuring that everything I do reflects a commitment to excellence.
I have nearly 20 years of federal government experience working in senior roles for the United States Trade Representative (USTR) and in the Senate, developing expertise in federal legislation and trade policy-making. As a result of my extensive experience, I know how both the Executive Branch and Congress make policy and I have built strong relationships with USTR and various Senate/House congressional offices and committees as well as members of the Washington policy community that help me serve clients looking to influence federal policy. I have significant experience working on trade, tariffs, government procurement (i.e., “Buy American” policy), manufacturing, clean energy, and appropriations matters. But, at USTR and as the former leader of a Senate office legislative staff, I have worked on a variety of issues affecting all types of businesses from live music venues and ship component manufacturers to dairy farmers and cranberry growers.
I live with my wife and two kids and enjoy travelling, coaching my daughter's soccer team, and rooting for my beloved New York Jets.
